Asahi Linux finds macOS bug that leaves machines unbootable


Asahi Linux has discovered a combination of bugs in Apple’s macOS that could render hardware difficult to recover. The bugs, found in the upgrade and boot process, affect MacBook Pro models with ProMotion displays and can cause the machine to boot to a black screen. The issue is not connected to Asahi Linux and affects users who have upgraded to macOS Sonoma or Ventura. The Asahi Linux installer has been updated to check for the issue. Apple has yet to respond to the report.
