Hackers can breach networks using data on resold corporate routers


GPT-4: Researchers at cybersecurity firm ESET discovered sensitive data on over half of 18 used corporate-grade routers purchased online, revealing that many devices are not properly wiped before being sold. The improperly wiped routers contained network configuration data and information that could identify previous owners. The researchers warn that hackers could use this data to breach corporate environments or obtain customer information, emphasizing the importance of securely wiping network devices before disposal.
