Chinese Court’s Landmark Ruling: AI Images Can be Copyrighted


In a landmark ruling, the Beijing Internet Court has granted copyright protection to AI-generated images, stating they reflect human creative intellectual input. The decision, contrasting Western courts’ rejection of such protections, signifies China’s pro-growth, business-friendly approach to AI regulation. The case was initiated by a plaintiff whose AI-generated image was allegedly used without permission, leading to a copyright infringement lawsuit.
