That one time Windows accidentally sent Poland under the sea


Microsoft veteran Raymond Chen recalls the time when the company accidentally ‘sank’ Poland due to a bug in the Windows 95 time zone map. The feature, which allowed users to select time zones by clicking on a map, was removed after border disputes arose. However, when Poland’s time zone was changed to match its neighbours, the map wasn’t updated, causing Poland to disappear and be replaced by an ocean.
