Chinese users can finally try their homegrown ChatGPT equivalents | TechCrunch


China has approved the first batch of eight generative AI applications for public use, including Baidu’s Ernie Bot and ByteDance’s Doubao. This follows China’s recent measures to oversee generative artificial intelligence. The AI law requires such algorithms to be registered with the government and service providers to obtain an administrative license. This could lead to rapid growth and mass adoption of AI chatbots in China.
