High-speed AI drone beats world-champion racers for the first time

Researchers from the University of Zürich and Intel have developed an AI-powered autonomous drone system, Swift, that outperformed human champions in first-person view drone racing. Swift uses real-time data and an artificial neural network to navigate race courses. Despite its success, the AI system struggled with adaptability and variable conditions. The technology could have potential applications in forest monitoring, space exploration, film industry, and search-and-rescue missions.
