The design includes some odd choices, such as a protruding disc drive and lack of vent fins. However, it does offer 1TB of built-in storage and two front-facing USB-C ports. The console’s removable disc drive requires an internet connection for setup, raising potential issues for secondhand sales. The PS5 slim’s design quirks and disc drive complexities make it a confusing mid-cycle refresh, offering little incentive for current PS5 owners to upgrade.
