Microsoft on major Outlook and OneDrive outages: We were hacked


GPT-4: Microsoft has confirmed that a series of service disruptions in early June were caused by DDoS attacks from the hacktivist group Anonymous Sudan. The attacks temporarily impacted the availability of Microsoft’s office suite, including Outlook and OneDrive. While no customer data was accessed or compromised, the incident highlights the significant risk posed by DDoS attacks on major software service providers. The attackers are believed to have used rented cloud infrastructure and VPNs to launch the attacks from botnets of zombie computers worldwide.
